Emergency Accommodation and Support

EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION AND SUPPORT FOR KENTISH RESIDENTS

Kentish Council acknowledges current and future residents of the Kentish municipality may be impacted by the housing crisis affecting the north west region and wider Tasmania.

The shortfall in housing supply has contributed to significant levels of housing stress, with many households effectively excluded from the private housing rental and sale market.

For those households most in need, the federal and state governments provide public housing. However, demand for housing has far outweighed public housing stock reducing the ability of governments to provide affordable housing. Waiting lists for public housing are increasing, and the housing affordability problem continues to contribute to homelessness in Tasmania.

If you are experiencing housing stress or homelessness, Kentish Council encourages you to contact the following accommodation support services and agencies:

For emergency accommodation, please call Housing Connect on 1800 800 588
