DRAFT EVENTS SINGLE USE PLASTIC POLICY

Council has conducted a preliminary inquiry into the sustainable waste management of single use plastics. The intent of this inquiry was to minimise the risks to the environment and human health from the use of single use plastics at events within our municipality.

As part of this Council is considering introducing an Event Single Use Plastic Policy to education to reduce or eliminate single use plastic products and waste at events managed or financed by Kentish Council.

Community comment is welcome on this proposed Policy. Information is available on the Council website www.kentish.tas.gov.au and at the Council offices at 69 High Street, Sheffield.

Comments in writing should be forwarded to the General Manager by close of business on Wednesday, 30 October 2019 via mail at PO Box 63 Sheffield 7306 or email council@kenitsh.tas.gov.au.

DRAFT DUST SEAL POLICY

Council has developed a draft Dust Seal Policy and is seeking community feedback. This policy has been developed as Council sometimes receives requests for rural roads to be sealed where it cannot be justified due to cost and low traffic volumes.  The policy aims to formalise a process whereby residents can improve the amenity of their property via a cost sharing arrangement with Council.  The policy has been based on similar ones in use at other Councils.

Comments in writing should be forwarded to the General Manager by close of business on Wednesday, 30 October 2019 via mail at PO Box 63 Sheffield 7306 or email council@kenitsh.tas.gov.au.
