Cradle Mountain Road / Wilmot Road Safety Improvement Works

As part of the 2022-2023 Kentish Council Capital Works Program, Council is undertaking safety improvement works on Cradle Mountain Road and Wilmot Road (Alma Bridge) starting from tomorrow (25/08/2022) with the installation of flexible guideposts.

The scope of works for this project consists of improving the delineation of several substandard curves by:

  • Installing/replacing Curve Alignment Markers (CAMs) and curve warning advisory signs
  • Installing/replacing existing guideposts with flexible units
  • Removing redundant signs and guideposts
  • Reinstating the centre line road markings with raised reflective pavement markers and intersections markings where specified.

The areas where the work will be undertaken is shown on the enclosed plan.

Users are to note traffic management will be in place for the work and we ask that all users to adhere to all signage and instructions given by site staff.  Where possible, the work will be undertaken in stages to minimise inconvenience.

If you any questions or would like further information, please contact the Council on (03) 6491 0200 or by email, council@kentish.tas.gov.au.

High Street/Main Street Roundabout Project

Kentish Council as part of its 2021-2022 Capital Works Program is proposing a roundabout at the High St / Main St intersection in Sheffield, a first for the town.

The project is estimated to cost $375,000, with a large portion of the project ($325,000) being funded from the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.  The Black Spot Program funds the treatment of roads and sites which have a proven crash history or have been identified as an ‘accident waiting to happen’ by a road safety audit.  The aim of the program is to reduce the risk of crashes, and such treatments include the installation of traffic signals and roundabouts.

A preliminary plan of the proposed roundabout is enclosed, and Council has recently completed a detailed survey of the site to assist in further developing and refining the design before it is put out for tender and construction early next year.

Further updates will be made available as the project progresses.

In the meantime, please contact us on (03) 6491 0200 or by email, council@kentish.tas.gov.au, if you have any questions about this project.
